Some men are born big, some attain bigness, and others have bigness thrust upon them. Yes, a corny beginning, but perhaps a valid one, as this new start-up ecommerce company in the UK seeks to demonstrate.
The company is called BigManStuff (http://www.bigmanstuff.com) and is the brain child of Andy Clarke and lifelong friend Dan Johnson. Andy is the big guy (6’6” and 4XL).
The market for good quality and good value outsize menswear has never been so large, yet there is little on the market that truly delivers. This is where BigManStuff are about to make a 'BigMan' difference.
BigManStuff at heart is seeking to change the way people look at larger mans fashion. It’s doing this by using the skill set of the founding partners, in ICT, sales and logistics.
Andy Clarke, co-founder of BigManStuff says, “Being a big man doesn’t mean that you have to be unfashionable. It also doesn’t mean that you have to pay a premium for your clothes. BigManStuff stands for quality, value and style.”
Most people don’t realise that the average store in your town centre will not stock anything for a man who is larger than XL. This causes significant problems for the larger man. For this reason there has always been a small network of specialist shops. However, these shops have tended to be run by people in the clothing trade who have seen a possible lucrative fringe market, and not by people interested in fashion.
One of the unusual consequences of starting BigManStuff has been Clarke’s movement into modelling. Something he never thought he would do. Clarke says, “We wanted to show people a real 4XL model. How is a big man supposed to get an idea of how the clothes are going to look when worn by a model no larger than XL? Well, I’m afraid I had to put my money wear my mouth was and get out in front of the camera. I hope that my lead will encourage other big guys to stand tall and say, 'I look good!'”
Part of the BigManStuff business plan is to open the door to ideas. Clarke says, “We want people to tell us what they want to wear, as well as bringing fresh ideas to the market ourselves. We want to create a BigManStuff community. We have started the site with a few articles, giving advice and information on what to wear and how to wear it. We hope people like it and find it useful.”
They say that the people with passion always make the best role models. Well if this is the case, buying big man clothing from a big man has got to be a step forward. BigManStuff is open for trading and available now at http://www.bigmanstuff.com.
BigManStuff is a trading name of WMR – With My Reputation LLP, a web design company based in Scotland, UK. BigManStuff sources and sells fashionable clothing for big and tall men online. For more information please visit http://www.bigmanstuff.com.
