Tucked away in the foothills of California's Coastal Mountain Range, The Lodge at Oak Creek Ranch provided musical recording stars Big & Rich well deserved rest and relaxation. Following a television performance on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," the country and western group had a concert at a San Luis Obispo county venue, The Pozo Saloon. In between stage set-up, sound checks, and performance preparation, the band relaxed at the 163-acre private, corporate and group retreat located in Central California, where they took advantage of the property's private lodge and guest rooms.
It was a pleasant change from the usual hustle and bustle of the other concert stops, where they often stay at casinos or hotels close to the concert venue. While at the ranch, the band enjoyed home-cooked meals, hiking the many trails on the property, and just relaxing in the beautiful, quiet country setting. They expressed great interest in learning details about the local setting. During the concert, John Rich referred to the local area as "drop dead gorgeous" to the thousands of concert attendees.
The group includes accomplished musicians and songwriters, who enjoyed working on new material on the digital baby grand piano located in the 6000 square foot lodge.
The Lodge has hosted other esteemed groups, including international wine importers and top New York City restaurateurs here for a local wine festival, in addition to many non-profit, corporate and family groups.
The Lodge at Oak Creek Ranch is a secluded 163-acre property in a rural setting of rolling foothills and mature oak trees. It is available for group rentals only. Retreat groups have full use of the entire property and all of the amenities, including the beautiful lodge, stunning pool, the yoga studio or conference room, the big red barn and the poolside bar.
