Using Green Genius biodegradable trash bags supports our goal of getting rid of single-use plastic that just sits in our landfills forever.

The Huntington/Seal Beach chapter of the Surfrider Foundation has partnered with Green Genius LLC, makers of Green Genius biodegradable trash bags, to help remove trash at their regular beach cleanups. Green Genius will provide biodegradable trash bags for volunteers to use at monthly litter removal events along Huntington Beach and Bolsa Chica State Beach. The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Founded in 1984 by a group of visionary Malibu surfers, the foundation now maintains over 90 chapters and has over 50,000 members worldwide. The Huntington/Seal Beach chapter was formed in 1989 and has more than 2,000 active volunteers. Regular beach cleanups are just one of the many ways in which Surfrider members give back to their communities and help raise awareness of the environmental issues facing our oceans.

“We’re stoked to have Green Genius as a partner in our cleanup efforts. Their biodegradable trash bags support our goal of getting rid of single-use plastic that just sits in our landfills forever,” said Seth Matson, who manages the Surfrider Foundation Huntington Beach cleanups.

Green Genius biodegradable trash bags have been certified biodegradable by an independent, EPA-registered lab using ASTM D5511. They are also the first and only trash bags validated to biodegrade under landfill conditions by UL Environment, a trusted provider of independent green claims verification.

“Supporting the Surfrider Foundation in their efforts to remove plastic from the environment is fundamental to our own mission. As a California-based company, it also gives us great pride to be a part of their regular beach cleanups, helping to restore our beautiful coastline,” said Sam Paul, Green Genius founder and CEO.
