CMT’s 2nd Biomass Trade & Power conference has secured support from major agencies including Port of Rotterdam Authority, RBCN (Rotterdam Biomass Commodities Network), DTA (Dutch Torrefaction Association), and Energy Valley. Due in Rotterdam on 16-18 March 2011, the conference promises to match expectations from the highly successful inaugural event held last year which saw 180 participants.
A brand new value-add to this year’s program is a separately bookable pre-conference site visit to Topell Energy’s first commercial torrefaction plant in Duiven (The Netherlands). Expected to be commissioned in Q1 of 2011, the plant will have a production capacity of 60,000 tons per annum.
Another special agenda line-up is an exclusive Networking Reception at the Rotterdam City Hall for registered delegates, sponsored by the City of Rotterdam and hosted by Ms Alexandra van Huffelen, Alderwoman for Sustainable Development, Inner City and Public Space.
The summit will put delegates directly face-to-face with top consultants and authoritative speakers, who are expected to share latest updates on EU countries’ biomass policies. Among them are Consulting With Purpose, Agentschap NL and many others invited to share views on NREAP and incentive/subsidy programs in Netherlands, Belgium, India and UK.
Major biomass utilities will also provide first-hand perspectives on executing large scale biomass co-firing in an interactive panel discussion. Confirmed panelists include Laborelec-Sustainable Process Technologies, DONG Energy A/S, RWE Supply & Trading Switzerland S.A., and Vattenfall Energy Trading Netherlands NV.
With governments & regulatory authorities pushing for pellets standardization and changes in certification systems, experts from various agencies are also enlisted to clarify doubts and reveal latest developments. Specifically, Vis Nova Trading GmbH and proPellets will discuss the proposed ENplus, while NEN Nederlands Normalisatie-instituut and VTT International Ltd aim to provide insights on NTA 8080 Sustainability Scheme and EN14961 Serie respectively.
Participating and contributing too are leading biomass players Enviva LP and Biomass-SP. Their senior representatives will examine import/export concerns in Baltic & Scandinavian Region, US to Europe, EU-Malaysia, and Africa.
Not-to-be missed also is the experts’ presentations and discussion on torrefaction technologies and economics.
