Compare Dust pollution of conventional abrasive versus Speedblast garnet

Blast-One International recently debuted its Speedblast™ abrasive to the industrial sandblasting and painting industry, announcing the abrasive can reduce consumption and waste costs by 66% while increasing blasting speed up to 43%.    Such output improvements are the result of the mineral quality, hardness, shape and processing of the abrasive “gem” grains. It is a pure natural mineral, completely inert and silica free.

Blast-One Vice President Brad Gooden said, “In a tough economy, Speedblast™ is a complete game changer. Our clients are winning more jobs because they can get the job done faster, cleaner, and can drop their total blasting costs by a staggering 39% overnight.”

Besides economic profitability, the company, which has over a quarter century experience in the industrial blasting and painting industry, is proud that Speedblast™ improves the health and safety of its users as well. “We’ve unfortunately seen many clients suffering from Silicosis and other blasting-related accidents, and so our whole focus was not only toward efficiency but also safety,” said Gooden. “Speedblast doesn’t contain any heavy metals that Coal Slag or other waste products tend to have in them.”

Compared with other commonly used industry abrasives,Speedblast™ has a lower breakdown rate when impacting the steel, thus reducing dust clouds while improving visibility and air quality. Speedblast™ is “low dusting because each grain is extremely tough. The abrasive is also washed in spring water during processing to ensure it is clean of impurities such as chlorides (salt), silt, or clay. The final result is less dust, greater visibility, and less clean-up.”

Blast-One compares the production efficiency of using Speedblast™ with having an extra blasting unit and operator for two days a week free. In a side-by-side efficiency test the company blasted 15 continuous minutes comparing Coal Slag versus Speedblast™. The difference was telling, with square foot costs showing a tremendous discrepancy. The Coal Slag effectively blasted a total of 28sq ft using 300 pounds of the abrasive, while Speedblast™ cleared 60sq ft using only 125 pounds. Furthermore, Speedblast™ can be collected and recycled up to ten times over its initial use, further reducing project costs.

Gooden summarizes the benefits of Speedblast™ as, “It’s cleaner, safer, and blasts more using less. It’s the future of the industry.”
