Will blended learning really change education as we know it? To discuss the implications, join noted author Michael B. Horn and Connections Learning, a leading provider of digital learning solutions to the K–12 education community, for a free blended learning webinar on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

District blended learning programs are one of the largest and fastest-growing segments of online/blended education, according to iNACOL, the International Association for K-12 Online Learning. During this interactive webcast, Mr. Horn will share insights from the new Clayton Christensen Institute (formerly Innosight Institute) report, Is K-12 Blended Learning Disruptive?

Through the lens of disruptive innovation, Mr. Horn, who co-authored the new report, will discuss:

  •     Sustaining and disruptive innovation
  •     The process of disruption
  •     Theory of hybrids
  •     Hybrid models of blended learning
  •     Seeing what’s next with blended learning
  •     Implications for education leaders

Sparking the interest of educators everywhere, blended learning combines technology-based online learning and face-to-face instruction. Blended learning can offer students a more personalized school experience with lessons that can be tailored to their needs. A typical blended learning model has students report in person to a school facility to meet with teachers, work through online lessons, and collaborate with their peers within a flexible schedule. Depending on the program, students may also work on courses outside the typical school day—anytime and anywhere there is an Internet connection.

Michael B. Horn is the co-founder and Executive Director of Education at The Clayton Christensen Institute, a not-for-profit think tank devoted to applying the theories of disruptive innovation to problems in the social sector. He is the co-author of Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns (McGraw-Hill: June 2008). Tech&Learning magazine named him to its list of the 100 most important people in the creation and advancement of the use of technology in education. Horn has been a featured keynote speaker at many conferences and written articles for numerous publications, including Education Week, Forbes, the Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Yale University, where he graduated with distinction in History.

This interactive webinar is free and open to the public. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with Mr. Horn during a live question and answer session. To register, click here or visit ConnectionsLearning.com.
