Christian Eiroa of CLE cigars tells Cigar Advisor readers why blending cigars is his favorite part of the job

If there's anything I want people to understand, it's the precision and dedication necessary to achieve a cigar blend that not only works on its own, but which makes sense within the brand it's representing.

The all-new Cigar Advisor Magazine is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers. Cigar Advisor Magazine has published a new featured article by well-known cigar manufacturer and Cigar Advisor contributor, Christian Eiroa. Entitled "The Thrill and Agony of Blending Cigars," the article is published as part of Eiroa's ongoing series, "Growing Up Tobacco," which comprises stories from Christian's unique perspective growing up in the cigar and tobacco business.

In "The Thrill and Agony of Blending Cigars," Eiroa discusses the blending process, and how it is "probably the most entertaining and rewarding part," even if it can also be "the most disappointing and frustrating." He adds that the blending process offers "both soaring joy and crushing heartbreak, sometimes on the same day."

Eiroa writes, "When you begin to work on a blend you have to ask yourself a few questions, but there are three aspects I put ahead of everything else: Flavor, Strength and Body."

In discussing the piece, Eiroa mentions how difficult it is to find tobaccos that blend together harmoniously. "You could blend the dominant tobaccos from your two favorite cigars, and it would probably be terrible," he says of the blending process. "If there's anything I want people to understand, it's the precision and dedication necessary to achieve a cigar blend that not only works on its own, but which makes sense within the brand it's representing."
