The quality policy here at Blue Blade Steel is ‘total customer satisfaction through continual improvement.'

On October 15th, 2015, Blue Blade Steel, a premier steel hardening and tempering mill in the United States, received official documentation confirming their Quality Management System (QMS) ISO/TS 16949 certification. The new certification positions the company to better serve automotive customers, which require the TS certification, while improving service overall for all of their steel customers.

“The quality policy here at Blue Blade Steel is ‘total customer satisfaction through continual improvement.’ Blue Blade Steel has been TS compliant for years now and we felt it was important to invest in finalizing the certification. As a niche, privately owned manufacturing company we are disciplined in supporting our system with a steady flow of investment from profits earned. The certification is not only a symbol that will encourage new growth opportunities from current and prospective customers, it is also a point of pride to our employees and vendors who share in this accomplishment,” says Jerry Shaw Jr., Business Development Manager for Blue Blade Steel.

Over the years, the company has continued to focus intensively on its customers, investing strategically in technologies and equipment, as well as recruiting and nourishing the best employees. This endless wheel of improvement has been driven by the company’s quality management system (QMS), which was first certified with ISO 9001 in 1997.

By 2013, the company’s QMS had evolved into a highly effective and efficient paperless system. Since then, all the TS components have been added to perform sophisticated statistical analyses, to predict and prevent quality issues before they happen, and to tightly monitor the company’s processes and performances to serve its customers.

Proud of its achievement, Blue Blade Steel’s commitment to quality is reflected in the new ‘measurables’ that have been established for the TS quality system. Customers are recognizing tighter hardness standard deviation control from temper lines, improved flatness and shape as well as an on time performance for first half 2015 that averaged over 97% on time for all customers. With the company’s latest ISO/TS 16949 achievement, it is poised to better serve both its traditional customers as well as automotive customers which require TS certification.
