"We are as dedicated to the health and wellness of our employees as we are to the success of our clients,” said Joseph Kask, CEO of blumshapiro.

blumshapiro, the largest regional business advisory firm based in New England with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, is a recipient of Hartford Business Journal’s first-ever Healthiest Employers Award, which recognizes blum’s dedication to employee health and safety in addition to its efforts to implement wellness programs.

blumshapiro was honored in the category of 151-400 Connecticut employees.

“We are as dedicated to the health and wellness of our employees as we are to the success of our clients,” said Joseph Kask, CEO of blumshapiro. “At blum we encourage our employees to play a very proactive role in their wellness by offering them the opportunity to spearhead committees and initiatives that insure high performance both professionally and personally. We are grateful their efforts have been recognized by the Hartford Business Journal.”

In recognition of blumshapiro, the Hartford Business Journal stated: “The company has a dedicated wellness committee focused on implementing health and wellness programs based around issues like healthy diet, exercise, mental health and work-life balance. The committee holds a brainstorming session at least once a month, and tries to align their ideas with the season. Last summer, they focused on healthy sun behavior. That meant giving away sunscreen and sun-proof chapstick, and encouraging employees to take time off to spend time with friends, family and nature.”

blum employees also are encouraged to remain physically active and care for their emotional health to ensure peak performance levels at work and home.

The Hartford Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers Awards were decided in partnership with the Healthiest Employers Group, which determined the finalists and winners using a scoring methodology managed by Springbuk, a privately held technology and data research firm. Companies that participated in the awards program had to complete an hour-long online assessment, according to the Hartford Business Journal. Companies were then ranked based on their performance on the following six measures: culture and leadership commitment; foundational components; strategic planning; communication and marketing; programming and interventions; and reporting and analytics. The Hartford Business Journal announced its first-ever Healthiest Employers Awards winners in its December 3rd issue.
