Today, Clearwater Compliance announced that its CEO and Founder, Bob Chaput, will speak at the Mimecast-hosted event at the Hilton Woodbridge in Iselin, New Jersey on April 25, 2012.

Marcella P. Mazzucca -Vice President, Strategic Alliances at Mimecast said “We’re simply thrilled to have Bob speak at this important event which will be attended by healthcare IT executives from the Greater New York City and Greater Philadelphia area. As a former executive and CIO in GE, Johnson & Johnson, and Healthways, Bob brings a wealth of practical and hands-on experience in operating large complex technology infrastructures where data security was paramount.”

The focus of Mr. Chaput's talk will be on how HITECH has raised the ante for HIPAA Security compliance in general, but how that specifically relates to patient communications by and between patients, their Covered Entity Providers and Business Associates in this increasingly electronic media-rich world.

“All Standards and Implementation Specifications in the HIPAA Security Rule apply to patient communications,” said Mr. Chaput, “and require organizations to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity and availability of electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI). With the significant increase in ePHI driven by the build-out of the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN), and the exponential growth of mobile/electronic communications, the risk of a breach is greater than ever. As organizations complete their risk analyses and make decisions about security investments, they must choose proven, secure service providers. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to share information and insights at this important event with fellow healthcare executives.”
Clearwater Compliance has helped many health care covered entities and business associates complete their risk analyses and strengthen their compliance and security programs through education, software and services.
