Boise, ID (Vocus) July 26, 2010
Trout Jones Gledhill Fuhrman Gourley, P.A., which is located in Boise, ID, is pleased to announce the addition of Steven J. Meade and Ben Slaughter. Both attorneys joined the firm in July 2010 and will serve as Of Counsel.
Mr. Meade specializes in education and family law. He also works in the areas of probate, employment law and workers’ compensation. Mr. Meade graduated from Boise State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration in 1995 and immediately began working in law related fields. He worked as a paralegal in the area of Family Law for Attorney Stanley W. Welsh.
During law school Mr. Meade continued his employment with Mr. Welsh until he graduated from the University of Idaho with his Juris Doctorate in 2000. At that point, he began working as an attorney handling family law and probate matters for Cosho, Humphrey, Greener & Welsh, P. A. Mr. Meade then joined the firm of Cantrill, Skinner, Sullivan & King, P.A. and began working in the area of Education Law under Attorney John King. In 2002, he accepted a position as In-House General Counsel and Lobbyist for the Idaho School Boards Association, Inc. Mr. Meade continued in that position until he joined the firm of Trout Jones Gledhill Furhman Gourley, P.A. in July 2010.
Mr. Slaughter practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, construction, bankruptcy law, and real estate, including title insurance defense, transactions, homeowners associations, landlord/tenant, and general litigation. He is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Idaho, and the United States District Courts of Idaho. Mr. Slaughter is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association with section memberships in Real Estate Law and Commercial and Bankruptcy Law.
After graduating from the University of Idaho’s College of Law in 2000, Mr. Slaughter spent two years working as a law clerk for Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, Terry L. Myers. From there, he honed his skills in private practice until 2007 when he accepted a position as General Counsel and Special Assets Manager for Idaho Mutual Trust, a Boise-based real estate lender. Mr. Slaughter spent the next two and a half years helping navigate the company through one of the worst real estate crises this country has ever seen. During that period, he also obtained an M.B.A. from Boise State University. These experiences provided Mr. Slaughter with a more comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between business and law. His unique background allows him to provide his clients with efficient, real-world counsel and representation.
