The Building Owners & Managers Association of Greater New York (BOMA/NY) made a donation of $4,520 to Hope For The Warriors®. The funds were raised through a silent auction held during Sail Under the Stars, their annual dinner dance. Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

The dinner dance was held on Friday, November 16, 2012. Guests enjoyed views of the New York skyline while aboard the Hornblower Hybrid, an innovative and eco-friendly yacht. The event was originally planned for November 2 but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Sandy.

“It was an honor to serve those who have served us so selflessly in America’s wars by making this donation, which will help ease the burden of our wounded warriors and their families as they transition to civilian life,” said Louis J. Mantia, BOMA/NY President. “We are also in the early stages of an awareness campaign on the benefits of hiring vets, whose record of discipline, and rigorous training in technology, communications and teamwork make them ideal candidates for property management…jobs that cannot be outsourced, off-shored and will keep them very close to home.”

“Hope For The Warriors® is thankful to BOMA/NY for their dedication to combat wounded service members and veterans,” Tina Atherall, Hope For The Warriors® Executive Vice President said. “This donation will help us support military families—many in the New York area who are struggling after Hurricane Sandy.”

The mission of Hope For The Warriors® is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.
