This Michael Parkes' show will take place the weekend of November 7 - 9, 2008. Guests will have the rare opportunity to speak with Michael Parkes about his artistic philosophies, how he produces such phenomenal colors and balance, and his imagery.

Michael Parkes' successful artistic career spans over 40 years. Michael Parkes' art has been vigorously collected throughout the world and new originals have been rare. 2008 Michael Parkes' originals are available exclusively through Borsini-Burr Gallery. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for collectors to see, to learn about, and to purchase Michael Parkes' newest works.

About Michael Parkes:
Michael Parkes is the world's leading magical realist painter, sculptor, and stone lithographer. His decades of success as a fine artist stand out in the art world, where less than 1% of artists ever achieve success in both primary and secondary art markets. Michael Parkes' works are collected by celebrities, private collectors, and galleries internationally.

Michael Parkes continues to create new works, all of which are widely sought after. Michael Parkes could draw even before he could read and write. An only child, raised in small town Missouri, Michael Parkes always has been a serious student of spirituality and esoterica. He attended art school where he met the woman, artist and musician to whom he remains married more than three decades later, Maria Sedoff. Michael and Maria now live in Spain. Exhibitions: Michael Parkes has had one-man exhibitions at Basel Art in Switzerland, Art Chicago, Art Fair NY, Frankfurt Bookfair, Amsterdam Art Fair, Tefaf Art and Antiques Fair Maastricht and is eagerly represented by galleries in Amsterdam, Paris, Denmark, Italy, New York, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and around the U.S. In 2007, Michael was the guest of honor in the international show "Venus and the Female Intuition," exhibited in Denmark and Holland. Michael Parkes' work has inspired contemporary ballet productions, poetry, and even tattoos.

Place in Art History:
John Russell Taylor, art critic for the London Times and contributor to The New York Times, says, "With Michael Parkes we may be reminded, now of some Victorian, now of Botticelli. If we were looking for a twentieth-century stalking horse, we might well look to Surrealists like Dali and Magritte, (with) one important distinction. In Surrealism, there is always a sense of stress… beneath the smooth surface. Maybe there was a touch of that in Michael Parkes: the clowns and dwarfs could seem threatening, not all the animals had their claws safely sheathed. But Michael Parkes always seemed to be hankering after calm and tranquility, and in his latest works he has achieved it."

Lecture on the Art of Stone Lithography:
Michael Parkes' is a living master of the stone lithograph process, a dying art. He is also an excellent speaker and teacher. On Sunday morning, November 9, 2008, from 10 am to 11 am, art students, collectors, and aficionados will have the rare opportunity to hear Michael present a lecture on the Art of Stone Lithography. All of Michael Parkes stone lithographs are done with his direct participation - he draws on the stones, hand checks each print, and signs only those that meet his very exacting standards. Because the printing process involves so much hand-work, each stone lithograph in an edition has slight differences from each other, and so they are individually numbered and one of a kind. Many experts consider hand-drawn limited edition stone lithograph prints to be original works of fine art.
