Boulder, CO (Vocus) August 19, 2010

Tike bikers 5-years of age and younger will take over one of North America’s finest indoor recreational bicycling facilities on Sunday, September 5th as Boulder, Colorado plays host to the 2010 Labor Day Weekend Tikeapalooza™ festival (http://www.tikeapalooza.com).

Toddlers and their families who attend the free fun event will have a chance to enjoy more than 18,000 square feet of indoor mountain bike trails, arts and crafts, entertainers and snacks.

“This is a wonderful way for families with young children to kick off the school year, network with one another, and generate some donations for a good cause,” says Dean Rotbart, Tikeapalooza’s event organizer.

Thanks to a growing list of supportive sponsors, each child who registers (no cost) will also be biking for ‘Jerry’s Kids’ – The Muscular Dystrophy Association. The more children who participate, the more money that will be donated to MDA!

Tikeapalooza’s lead sponsors are Strider Sports International, Inc., maker of Strider PREBikes™ for Toddlers, and Boulder Indoor Cycling, host of the 2010 Tikeapalooza.

Strider Sports, headquartered in Rapid City, SD, is the world’s preeminent maker of quality running bikes specifically engineered for the shorter leg-lengths and less-developed muscle power of toddlers.

Children who start off on a Strider PREBike™ routinely advance to a regular, unaided two-wheeler pedal bike at least 18-months to two years earlier than kids using tricycles or training wheels.

Sturdy Strider PREBikes™ weigh less than 7 pounds and feature tires that never go flat. They are available directly from Strider Sports as well as via a global network of dealers, online retailers and bike shops.

Toddlers attending the September 5th Tikeapalooza™ can bring their own bikes or try one of Strider’s PREBikes™. Boulder Indoor Cycling regularly uses PREBikes™ as part of its popular CycleTykes program, which uses a variety of fun games to engage kids in physical activity.

Boulder Indoor Cycling is the only Velodrome/Mountain Biking facility in the world. Its 138-meter track is designed for recreational cyclists of all skill levels and abilities.

Co-Sponsors of the 2010 Tikeapalooza™ include Competitor Magazine, the source for the active lifestyle; Skinny Crisps, makers of nutritious, satisfying, crispy crackers that combine great taste with gluten free ingredients and approximately one half a net carb per cracker; The Farrar Side, featuring caricatures and cartoons by renowned Colorado artist Frank Farrar; and Germ Proof Your Kids, the complete guide to protecting (without overprotecting) your family from infections.

Companies or organizations that would like to help sponsor this event or exhibit at it are invited to contact Tikeapalooza at 303-390-1644. Reporters, bloggers and photojournalists are invited to cover this unique Labor Day fundraiser that will include dozens of toddlers bicycling for Jerry’s Kids.

All net proceeds from the event and sponsorships will be donated to the 2010 Jerry Lewis MDA telethon.
