When a fighter excels at each of the points in the 10 point system, he becomes a fighter that has unlimited potential (…) The 10 point system is probably the most valuable tool a fighter can have.
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 24, 2013
The boxing training program entitled 10-Point Strategic Boxing System, created by Vinny Furlani, an experienced boxer trained by Olympic Gold Medalist and Heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson, is being featured in the new mobile magazine Art of Boxing, the premiere boxing source for fans of the sport and also fighters at all levels. The MobileMag is now available for subscription through http://www.artofboxingmag.com.
As Vinny attests, boxing used to be one of the most popular sports in America. Now, the lack of a charismatic and experienced heavyweight champion of the world has hurt the way the sport is currently viewed and valued. He said, “Boxing didn’t get bad in the heavyweight division because fans stopped watching; fans stopped watching because boxing became bad.” When referencing ‘bad boxing’, Mr. Furlani means the abandonment of classic form and techniques, which used to be part of the sport and is now scarcely expressed by current fighters.
Vinny’s early trainer, Floyd Patterson, learned from legendary Cus D'Amato, who headed the team that also trained Mike Tyson, the youngest fighter to ever win a heavyweight title. “The way I was taught, boxers were to always move and keep their head down; always throw punches; and always stay on their toes… That was something worth watching.”
However, Furlani guarantees boxing is not dead, and substantiates his conviction with the fact that there are still more Google searches today on boxing-related terms than MMA and Mixed Martial Arts combined. That conviction and a passion for the sport are the drives behind the 10-Point Strategic Boxing System. The boxing training program, which emphasizes ‘old school’ techniques that allow fighters to perform better overall, is being initially shared through the Art of Boxing magazine, in a section called Vinny’s Corner – each month, readers will have insight into portions of the revolutionary system that has been validated by Tracy Harris-Patterson, former boxer who became a two weight world champion. Patterson recently stated, “When a fighter excels at each of the points in the 10 point system, he becomes a fighter that has unlimited potential (…) The 10 point system is probably the most valuable tool a fighter can have.”
In late 1988, Vinny Furlani was actually on the undercard of his then roommate and sparring-partner, Tracy Harris-Patterson. Vinny also participated in Patterson’s corner during his rise to Featherweight and Junior Lightweight World Champion. “I recently discussed with Vinny his 10 point strategic boxing game plan - the best trainers understand the methodology in his plan, yet the way he [Vinny] explains it brings the science of the sport to life,” continued Patterson.
The inaugural issue of the Art of Boxing magazine also features Mike Tyson in the “Where Are They Now?”, section. Additionally, iconic boxing writer and sports historian Burt Sugar (June 7, 1937 – March 25, 2012), dissects Tyson’s accomplishments in the decades Sugar provided expert coverage of the sport.
Other featured sections in the Art of Boxing magazine include the highly anticipated Boxing Nutrition Secrets, easy to find Boxing Calendar and at-your-fingertips Boxing Ranking, which will all be brought back each month. Building up the fan’s familiarity with the sport, each informative and entertaining section helps those already actively pursuing the sport excel even further.
