It was a labor of love demonstrating how proud we are of Idlewild’s students, faculty and staff and it would not have been possible without the support of Brighter Blooms Nursery. We are truly grateful.

Brighter Blooms Nursery, one of the fastest-growing mail-order gardening companies, recently donated a brand new landscape for Idlewild Elementary School in Charlotte, NC.
Idlewild Elementary School educates hundreds of students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. The school recently underwent a massive renovation in an effort to update and improve the school. Already working with a tight budget, the project left little money to meet the school’s landscaping needs.
When Brighter Blooms Nursery heard of the school’s situation, they acted quickly. The result was a donation of almost 60 shrubs to assist in the school’s beautification project, which was finished just in time for Earth Day.
The plants donated to Idlewild Elementary School included 15 Knockout Roses, 12 White Out Roses, 16 Nandina shrubs, 12 Hawthorn shrubs and 1 Crape Myrtle tree. All of the plants are hardy to the area and should thrive for years to come. Each will provide bursts of blooms for several months every year from this day forward.
Eleven gracious volunteers gathered at the school to properly plant and mulch the shrubs around the traffic circle at the school’s entrance. The Idlewild Elementary School PTA expressed their gratitude in a letter to Brighter Blooms, stating:
“It was a labor of love demonstrating how proud we are of Idlewild’s students, faculty and staff and it would not have been possible without the support of Brighter Blooms Nursery. We are truly grateful.”
“We felt compelled to help the school,” said Travis Zboch, one of the managers at Brighter Blooms Nursery. “I drive by the school almost every day, so I wanted to contribute. It was a good fit.”
Brighter Blooms Nursery is known for its charitable donations. In 2011, the nursery helped donate thousands of fruit trees to third world countries in an effort to provide a form of sustainable living.
