BrillKids CEO Speaks at Google/e-zone e-Marketing Workshop
Early learning company does business Web 2.0 style
Hong Kong (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 -- BrillKids CEO KL Wong was invited by Google and leading Hong Kong computing magazine e-zone to speak at an e-marketing workshop hosted on the weekend.
Wong, whose start-up has grown in a year to include a thriving community of nearly 20,000 forum members, explained how his early learning business markets itself in the Web 2.0 era.
Entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs also heard from Google senior reseller and regional manager Isaac Shao about how e-marketing campaigns can match the imperatives of SMEs, for whom the need to keep costs down is paramount.
E-marketing is also good for niche companies looking to run a well-positioned campaign. For BrillKids Inc - which targets parents interested in early learning from birth, and teaching tools that can be used at home - search engine optimization has been key to bringing in traffic.
Google AdWords, meanwhile, has been instrumental in minimizing expenditure for this young business, whose new software-based early learning systems, Little Reader and Little Math, are already causing quite a stir online.
"Our aim is to be the only place you ever need to go for early learning," explains Wong, whose websites include BrillBaby.com, an information portal, and BrillKids.com, which provides the platform for the company's early learning systems and successful forum.
BrillKids Inc's community-based approach extends to enabling parents to customize lessons - and in the process, contribute to the teaching pool available to all users. In exchange for contributing high-quality content to the public domain, parents earn points qualifying them for discounts on BrillKids' early learning systems, Little Reader and Little Math.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the internet -but in the Web 2.0 era, the spirit of give-and-take could be just the thing to take a niche start-up like BrillKids Inc to the next level.
About the founder
KL Wong, CEO of BrillKids Inc, used flash cards, DVDs, homemade books and a prototype software program he designed with his daughter Felicity, who can be seen on YouTube reading dozens of words at the age of 12 months. Wong went on to produce the early learning systems Little Reader, Little Math and Little Musician (currently in development). Little Reader and Little Math can be obtained by visiting BrillKids.
