"The Shop is more than an online mall specializing in Brooklyn gifts, it’s doing something to help the community, that’s real Brooklyn SWAG,” Liani Greaves.
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) August 22, 2012
The Brooklyn Swag Shop, an online memorabilia store selling Brooklyn-themed items including t-shirts, bags and hooded sweatshirts is set to launch a fundraising campaign on September 5th, to install a Playground at Public School 4K in Brooklyn, in partnership of Fund for Public Schools. The Fund for Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that facilitates strategic public-private partnerships to support New York City’s public schools.
“There’s probably no area in the world more global than Brooklyn; nothing more authentic than its style; nothing more inimitable than its attitude, said Liani Greaves, Founder of Brooklyn Swag Shop. The Shop is more than an online mall specializing in Brooklyn gifts, it’s doing something to help the community, that’s real Brooklyn SWAG,” added Greaves.
Brooklyn Swag Shop identifies one project at a time and dedicates funding until the project is completely funded. For the company’s first initiative, the company is sponsoring a fundraising campaign to install a playground at P4K in Brooklyn, which serves special needs children, many with severe disabilities. The school currently only has a black concrete outdoor area as their play space and the money will help build a “Paradise-Playground” complete with swings, slides and more. Funds raised from the campaign will directly benefit the school via The Fund For Public Schools. Future projects include raising funds for a writing center and other technology initiatives at Brooklyn high schools.
Born and bred in Brooklyn, Founder Liani Greaves has owned and operated several Brooklyn vacation apartments where she enjoyed watching her guests fall in love with her native borough. She hit on a unique idea: why not give guests something to take back to their home and give them an opportunity to leave something good behind. “The idea of ‘Give Some, Get Some’, really is the Brooklyn way,” adds Greaves. 10 percent of gross sales at the Swag shop will go to help support the work of under-funded public schools in Brooklyn.
“On behalf of our students, staff and parents, we sincerely thank Brooklyn Swag Shop for their initiative and advocacy in supporting our P4K Paradise-Playground where our children will have the space to move, run, jump, laugh, play and socialize with their peers,” said Deborah Evans, Principal of P4K in Brooklyn.
