Collegiate Aviation is facing a watershed moment in its history.
Concord, Massachusetts (PRWEB) August 14, 2012
Brown Aviation Lease, the leading fleet management company for professional flight training organizations, and higher education consulting firm Eduventures, teamed up to hold a round table dinner discussion on “The Meaning of Disruption In Higher Education” and how it relates to the future of collegiate aviation.
The round table dinner was held on July 17th, 2012 in Montreal Canada during the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) semi-annual conference. In attendance were leaders from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Kent State University, Western Michigan University College of Aviation, Auburn University College of Business, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott and CAE, Inc.
"Collegiate Aviation is facing a watershed moment in its history," stated Dr. Guy Smith, Department Chair of Applied Aviation Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. "It is events like this that bring leading experts together in a collaborative format that push our thinking as an industry and help us prepare for the future pilot and maintenance shortage. Thank you to the Brown Aviation Lease Team for creating this event and continuing the discussion."
Brown Aviation Lease has consistently positioned itself as an expert in the flight training marketplace, and again exemplified that through its ability to bring together thought leaders from both inside and outside collegiate aviation. The purpose of the dinner was to hold an open discussion around some of the major issues plaguing the future of collegiate aviation. Topics including; innovative revenue streams to offset the high costs of education, the future of online education in collegiate aviation, recruitment of women into aviation and strategies for flight training programs to collaborate and share resources, professors and even curriculums, were widely debated and discussed. Dr. Mark Nemec, President and CEO of Eduventures, was in attendance to share his twenty-plus years of experience in higher education, providing ideas and insights for collegiate aviation.
"We at Eduventures are excited to have joined with Brown Aviation Lease to facilitate this discussion," exclaimed Dr. Nemec. "Disruption in higher education is inevitable which is why it is great to see the leaders in collegiate aviation get involved and actively assess strategies to ensure their programs navigate this disruption and reach their full potential. I look forward to continuing the conversation online with Brown and those keen on collegiate aviation."
Post-event, Brown Aviation Lease created a discussion and resource center for those who could not attend the dinner, so that they can view some of the highlights and topics discussed and join in on the conversation.
