At a time when brand new silent film, The Artist, is being applauded by critics and, by all accounts, heading for 2012 Oscars success, London’s Royal Festival Hall is proud to announce a unique cinematic and musical event: a special film screening of one of the greatest stories ever told: the epic silent masterpiece, FAUST, created by one of the most celebrated and influential directors of the late silent era, German director, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau.
The screening of Faust will feature performing the worldwide premiere of Aphrodite Raickopoulou's new soundtrack score, with live piano improvisations by Gabriela Montero. The concert will be conducted by Emmy Award winning conductor-composer Benjamin Wallfisch. This epic masterpiece is introduced with a foreword by the highly acclaimed British actor Hugh Grant.
The cast for Faust includes Emil Jannings as the howling Mephisto, an innocent Gretchen in Camilla Horn's startling acting debut and the wonderful Gosta Ekman. This classic tale of the struggle between good and evil was created by one of the most celebrated and influential directors of the late silent era, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. The legend has been immortalized by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe and Christopher Marlowe.Tickets can be booked for prices that include £43, £35, £29, £24, £15, £12 and £10. Premium seats are available for £55 and there is a booking fee of £1.75. There is no booking fee for members. Concessions are available for 50 percent off of their regular price, but they are limited in their availability, so people are encouraged to book their tickets now.
