Build Group, Inc. (http://www.buildgc.com) today announced a partnership with Plus 3 Network, an innovative social networking company that combines personal fitness with charitable giving. Together Build Group and Plus 3 Network have designed an employee wellness program that uses philanthropic donations as a major motivator to encourage employees to exercise. Under the program, Build Group donates funds, in the employee’s name, to a variety of charitable organizations for activities logged by the employee. Using simple tools such as a PDA, +3 GPS for I-phone and the web, employees have the opportunity to log their activities and generate funds for charity while getting in better shape and improving their health.

Eligible activities under the program include walking, gym workouts, yoga, bike rides, swimming or any of over 70 other healthy activities, even yard work. Plus 3 Network counts and converts employee’s logged actions into company-sponsored donations to their selected organizations. Build Group’s charities include: City Impact; Legal Aid Society; Sea Shepherd Conservation Society; Surfrider Foundation and Today’s Youth Matter.

A New Way of Giving, A New Model for Wellness

“We are a young company that is really focused on building our culture.” Said Kim Zabel, Build Group’s Director of Human Resources and Core Operations. “The Plus 3 Network’s program ignites friendly competition among our people and allows them to personally get involved in raising money for good causes. It’s a great match for us.”

People + Health + Philanthropy = a Win Win Win

“Our people get the positive experience of donating to worthwhile charities without spending a single penny.” Said Ron Yen, General Superintendent. “ They just logon and turn their healthy actions into social currency. The money is donated on their behalf by Build Group. We have had 75% employee participation in the first month – our folks are into it.”

Using Simple Tools and Good Old Fashioned Peer Support

Build Group is using Plus 3 Nework (http://www.plus3network.com) a Silicon Valley start-up to deliver the program to employees and the funds to Build Group’s charities. “ You can think of us as a daily “walk-a-thon”, said Rick Sutton, Plus 3 CEO. “For every minute of program participants logged activities we move funds to charitable organizations.”

Plus 3 Network also builds on peer support and socializing by letting each member of the Build Group community see the activities of their fellow participants. Build Group can establish a leader board and also create fun competitions.
