Traveling in Comfort is Among the Highest Priorities for Business Travelers

Many companies don’t think they have the budget for business class, but with smart planning there are a variety of options to save.

New research shows that being comfortable while traveling is a top priority among business travelers. The most common complaint from 32 percent of business travelers is that they sometimes miss their “normal routine,” results from a recent eRewards Opinion Panel survey states. Thirty-four percent of those surveyed said “being away from home” was the most difficult part of business travel. But there is lots that can be done to make life on the road more comfortable, according to Tim Gibson, a spokesman for Alpha Flight Guru, a travel agency that specializes in helping travelers redeem credit card points and frequent flier miles for discount business class tickets.

“Regularly traveling for business can take its toll on people,” Gibson said. “Business flights are one way to help make a trip more comfortable and productive for employees while they are away from home. Many companies don’t think they have the budget for business class, but with smart planning there are a variety of options to save.”

Alpha Flight Guru had these other suggestions for making business travel more comfortable:

•     Join an airport club with the airline most frequently used or get a credit card that offers airline club access. The Delta Sky Club, American Airlines Admirals Club and others offer comfortable places to work and relax during long layovers.
•     When possible, pack everything for your trip in a carry-on bag to avoid the potential stress of lost luggage. This saves time at baggage claim and provides additional flexibility if a flight is canceled.
•     Along with trying to stick to one airline alliance, also try to use just one hotel chain and car rental agency to gain elite status. Consistent loyalty to one company can bring a variety of perks, including travel upgrades.

With business travel continuing to increases, the eRewards Opinion Panel survey of more than 550 business travelers also found that about 73 percent of respondents believed that traveling for work was the most effective way of doing business. While a third of those surveyed said they made an “important business connection” while socializing on a business trip.
