The cancellation of Pittsburg’s holiday parade this year isn’t bringing anyone down—especially the ever-jolly Santa Claus. He and the Mrs. will be available for last-minute gift requests and photo opportunities this Saturday at Railroad Book Depot, located at 650 Railroad Avenue in Old Town Pittsburg, from 2 to 4 pm.

So come join your fellow Pittsburg families, and the Claus family, at the Railroad Book Depot this Saturday

While the economic slump put the skids on this year’s plans for a holiday parade through Old Town Pittsburg, Santa Claus has no intention of missing his special appearance at Railroad Book Depot this Saturday, December 17, 2001 from 2 to 4 pm. (And rumor has it he’s bringing Mrs. Claus and some of his elves with him.)

“While we won’t hear the inspiring cadences of the PHS Marching Band or the tapping footsteps of local youth groups, Old Town Pittsburg will not go without holiday festivities this year,” said Meredith Ladich, the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce CEO. “So come join your fellow Pittsburg families, and the Claus family, at the Railroad Book Depot this Saturday.”

Families are encouraged to come to the Railroad Book Depot and take pictures with Santa and his entourage against a holiday backdrop and enjoy holiday music, hot apple cider and, of course, cookies. Mrs. Claus will read holiday stories and the elves are planning to teach everyone the secrets they use at the North Pole in their holiday craft and gift workshop.

This event is made possible thanks to contributions from the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, the Pittsburg Arts and Community Foundation, the Railroad Book Depot, Event Magic, Steeltown Coffee and Tea, and Raley’s Supermarket.
