We’re starting the new year with events that support and celebrate the local business community

The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce is helping local businesses get a running start in 2012 with 3 events aimed at helping businesses increase efficiency, recognizing local leaders, and networking. On January 19th, the Morning Buzz breakfast seminar explains how to best use Microsoft Office in day-to-day business. On January 26th, the Installation Dinner recognizes people who made outstanding contributions to the community last year. And on January 30th, the Small Business Forum gives local businesses a chance to meet and greet.
“We’re starting the new year with events that support and celebrate the local business community,” says Monica Couture, the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce Director of Operations. “Join us to learn new business techniques, learn about people making a difference in the community, and get to know other local businesses.”
On January 19th from 9:00AM to 11:00AM the Morning Buzz seminar, “Focus on Your Business,” will be held at the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce. This seminar offers helpful tips on how to use Microsoft Office in day-to-day business operations. The event presentation covers:
•How to get through everyday tasks more quickly
•How to overcome email overload
•How to create professional documents and presentations with impact
•How to easily get insight into your data
•How to easily connect and share with customers, colleagues, friends and family
A Microsoft software door prize will be given away. Members: $25.00 Prospective-Members: $35.00
The Annual Installation Dinner and Awards Ceremony takes place on January 26th at Mehran Restaurant. Wine and cheese start at 6:00PM and dinner, which includes American favorites, starts at 6:30PM. Honorees include Business of the Year La Superior Super Mercado; Business Persons of the Year Nicolas Maamari and Johny Khalilieh; Citizen of the Year Ben Johnson; recognitions of Veteran of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Educator of the Year; and the traditional Pittsburg Police Recognition Award and Pittsburg Fire Fighter Recognition Award. $45 per person. RSVP by January 16th.
The month wraps up with the Small Business Forum, held on January 30th from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. The meeting, held in the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce Board Room, provides a quarterly venue for small business owners to meet, share information and educate one another. The central focus is on issues pertinent to operating, maintaining and growing a small business in Pittsburg. All small business owners who are Chamber members are invited to attend to this open discussion. The agenda this month includes:
1. Chamber Executive PJ Quesada, owner of Ramar Foods, will give a presentation on communication and presentation skills. This forum will cover topics such as: inter-office communication, refining your sales pitch, acquiring and maintaining relationships, and various communication and presentation skills you need to know to be effective in today's world.
2. Introduction to taking effective meeting minutes. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch. This is a free event for Chamber members. Members: $0.00 Prospective members: $10.00
