The president of the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, Ron Rives, recently announced that the Chamber has hired Harry York as its new CEO. A native of the East Bay region, York is bringing over 30 years of executive Chamber member experience to Pittsburg.

York is the former executive vice president of the Concord, California Chamber of Commerce and former CEO of the Reno-Sparks, Nevada Chamber. His most recent position was as the CEO of the Brentwood, California Chamber, where he was active from March 2008 until April 2011.

“We are extremely pleased to bring Harry on as our executive to assist the Chamber and or community in these times of economic change,” said Rives. “With his experience and background he will be able to help us move the Pittsburg Chamber to a new level of involvement in the community and the region.”

York accomplished many notable achievements during his other executive positions. For example, he developed the Concord Chamber’s governmental programs at the state and local levels, defeated a proposed state Gross Receipt Tax at the 2003 Nevada Legislature, and reorganized the Brentwood Chamber’s office procedures to be more like a business. He currently resides in the Reno, Nevada area and works as a business consultant.

“I am excited about the opportunity be able to return home and be able to do what I love to do, be part of growing a community and help businesses of all sizes prosper,” explained York. “My first priorities will be to expand the business networking opportunities the Chamber currently offers, update the internal organization of the Chamber, and get the Chamber very involved in governmental activities at all levels.”

The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce helps build strong business-to-business relationships and increases the awareness and exposure of business members through networking programs and events. Its mission is to provide a strong voice for Pittsburg businesses locally, regionally, and statewide.

“We are very lucky to land not only a very experienced chamber executive, but someone who grew up, worked in, and knows our region very well,” Pittsburg Chamber Search Committee Chair Tim Stone remarked. “He will help our Pittsburg businesses grow and succeed.”
