College Turns to Predictive Modeling Software from Rapid Insight Inc. to Analyze Financial Aid Data and Achieve Admissions Goals

For the past couple of decades, the College of the Holy Cross has placed considerable emphasis on helping its students finance their education, specifically meeting 100% of the financial need of every admitted student, while remaining need blind in the admissions process. In a move to streamline this effort and continue to bring the best students to Holy Cross regardless of their ability to pay, the college has added a new ace up its sleeve: data mining and analysis technology from Rapid Insight Inc.

Founded in 1843, Holy Cross is an exclusively undergraduate institution with approximately 2,700 students located in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Holy Cross Financial Aid Office is using Rapid Insight® Analytics to examine student enrollment data to answer questions about aid recipients. By analyzing items such as household income and family size, the college can gain a better picture of the student population as a whole and better allocate its need-based aid. Based on one of their first analyses with Rapid Insight, a major decision was made to continue with current policies of remaining need blind in the admissions process.
