Reston, VA (PRWEB) March 29, 2011
Business process management (BPM) software makers at Appian.com, announce that their customers UPS and Nokia have received industry recognition for BPM Excellence by leading analyst firm Gartner. Appian Corporation, the global innovator in enterprise and on-demand business process management technology, is proud to announce that Appian customers UPS and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) were both honored in Gartner, Inc.'s 2011 BPM Excellence Awards.
UPS's IT Shared Services Group was named Winner in the category of Furthering BPM Disciplines - spreading the benefits of BPM on a large scale, and demonstrating success and reinvesting returns in deepening the level of process improvement habits and skills. UPS uses Appian's business process management software suite in support of a corporate mandate from the company's CIO to deliver better, faster service at reduced cost. With more than 100 process applications deployed, UPS has improved operational efficiencies, enhanced customer service excellence, and generated significant cost-savings throughout its organization. UPS will share its award-winning BPM expertise in a series of winner-user roundtables with conference attendees at the Gartner BPM Summit taking place April 27-29 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland.
Nokia Siemens Networks was named Runner Up in the category of Best Practices in Advancing BPM Competencies. Using Appian's BPM software, NSN has deployed a sophisticated, pan-organizational BPM program driven by one of the most mature Center of Excellence organizations in the BPM industry. Appian's BPM software solution drives process automation, process governance and consistency across the fundamental areas of NSN's business, from its Business Solutions & Operations to its Managed Services and its Global Network Implementation Centers. The Appian platform has been leveraged to provide a multitude of applications within Nokia to deliver millions of dollars in return on investment annually. This has lead Nokia to receive its special recognition from Gartner.
The awards from Gartner are given only to the companies that most clearly demonstrated excellence in their corporate BPM initiatives. The winners were selected by a review team from the Gartner analyst community.
"Business process management continues to grow in popularity because it offers major business performance improvement advantages. Success in the adoption of BPM is heavily dependent on the ability to tackle people, process, and technology issues at the same time," said Michele Cantara, research vice president at Gartner and BPM Summit conference chair. "These organizations are excellent examples of knowing how to apply organization and change management disciplines and appropriate BPM technologies at different levels of BPM maturity. Each of these companies saw significant contributions to business outcomes, based on their use of BPM."
