BCAS was originally formed by the British government and has spent the last 80 years helping members build better businesses – the society is now one of the most respected and influential in the UK.

During the second half of the 1950’s, the society had already established its position as the representative body for the compressed air industry and started to update its earlier technical reference publications and industry-wide compressed air terms and standards. At this early stage, BCAS members were already actively participating on numerous British standards committees.

The society was serving as far more than just a technical body, being more involved as a link between industry, government departments, foreign governments and other industry organisations to safeguarded the interests of its members during negotiations.

Currently, BCAS represents around 120 member businesses and takes a leading role in promoting the highest possible standards of product, service, education and fair-trade throughout the industry. The society also takes an active role in the industry’s leading annual exhibition as a key partner.

BCAS is yet another of the UK’s leading organisations who have chosen to participate in Businessmagnet’s Industry Associations Program - an initiative which encourages member firms to demonstrate the various industry memberships and trade accreditations they hold.

Introduced earlier this year, the Program was devised to highlight why membership matters, what it could mean to visitors to the directory as potential customers and promote a message of ‘choose a member firm as a supplier’.

Daniel French, co-founder of Businessmagnet said “We are delighted that societies like BCAS have decided to take part in the Program – their decision to participate reinforces what we are trying to achieve through this initiative – we are already providing some of the UK’s leading associations and their members with a vehicle to shout about their status to potential customers”.

He added “Through our unique ‘itraka’ reporting we monitor the performance we deliver for all our customers - so it’s very easy for us to evidence how many views and referrals we deliver each month”.

Through the association’s participation in the Program, members of BCAS automatically benefit from an increased number of keywords and description text in their complimentary listings – both these factors contribute to further elevating the member’s ranking in search results for the products and services they offer.

“We are constantly working on the technology involved in our back-end systems in order to improve our search engine coverage – we are currently delivering up to 3.5million page views and 1million unique users every month” stated French.

“The other reason we deliver better results than any of our competitors is because we have more page views and unique users per advertiser than any other online directory in the UK. We have deliberately not diluted our audience in order to maintain a better return on investment for our advertisers” French added.

An Industry Associations section is featured on the main navigation of the directory where visitors can find detailed information about the relevant association in order to understand what a firm’s membership could mean to them as a customer of that company.

There is no charge for associations and their members to participate in the Program.
