Along the way, we have produced more than 50 events. I am especially fond of TRAVDEX. Why? Because the buying and selling of travel technology is time-consuming, confusing and costly. TRAVDEX uniquely solves this inefficiency.
Atlanta, GA (Vocus) June 10, 2010
Three executives from Teplis Travel recently attended the inaugural TRAVDEX trade exhibition at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, which attracted business travel service industry participants from around the world. TRAVDEX is produced by PhoCusWright, the research authority on travel technology business and host of the industry’s latest annual go-to event.
Gary Teplis (Vice President, Sales), Darryl Brooks (Vice President, Information Technology) and Linda Alexander (Vice President, Operations) were present and took the opportunity to further their expertise in providing support to Teplis clients and their travelers. Teplis has been on the forefront of utilizing new technology for decades, having beta-tested industry changing applications for suppliers over the years. The corporate travel agency implemented its first self booking tool in 1987, and currently is an authorized Cliqbook® support agency, featuring Concur® mobile, which allows travelers to manage travel from their smart phone.
The proliferation of smartphones coupled with widespread deployments of 3G networks has enabled pioneering TMC’s, like Teplis, to accommodate business travelers around the world. “The corporate travel management industry changes on a daily basis, and we are committed to staying ahead of the curve,” said Gary Teplis. “In the last year we have seen a tremendous move toward the use of mobile phones by frequent business travelers, so at Teplis Travel we have helped make the smart phone a travellers’ best friend. Our mobile travel strategy is facilitated with travel technology partners like the exhibitors at TRAVDEX.”
TRAVDEX exhibitors included Quickmobile, a new innovation that empowers your business travel agent to send SMS text messages to travelers to update them on flight status; Travel Sciences, providing state of the art CRM enhancements and live agent chat; RateGain, offering a program which tracks and documents hotel rates across multiple channels; NetTrans, showcasing an additional hotel commission recovery resource; and FlightStats, offering interactive travel itineraries. Key events at TRAVDEX included a Technology Standards seminar, an Airline-New Business Model seminar, a Hotel Trend Seminar and Talking Travel Tech—seminar sponsored by Tnooz.
"For 17 years, PhoCusWright has uncovered, tracked and analyzed technology's impact on travel, tourism and hospitality around the world," said Philip C. Wolf, president and CEO of PhoCusWright. "Along the way, we have produced more than 50 events. I am especially fond of TRAVDEX. Why? Because the buying and selling of travel technology is time-consuming, confusing and costly. TRAVDEX uniquely solves this inefficiency."
