Executive Chic has created the first blog on business attire for professional women at the senior levels of large corporations and firms. The online forum also enables female executives to share inside tips and questions on such issues as wardrobe essentials and resources, what current trends to follow, adapt or ignore, appropriate looks for different business settings, and much more.
“The issue of business attire at the senior levels of large organizations can be significantly more challenging for women than men. You have more choices to make, less time to make those choices and few fashion resources that meet the needs of professional women,” said Ms Incognita, founder and moderator of the Executive Chic blog.
Ms Incognita is the pseudonym of a management consultant who works at the senior executive and board level of large businesses in North America and Europe. Prior to her current career, she had a several decade track record of successful leadership in several well-known companies, including as president of a North American oil company.
“Using a fun identity on the blog -- and encouraging blog participants to do the same -- gives us the freedom to talk about issues that are sometimes dismissed as superficial, but that in fact have a big impact on how we’re perceived,” explained Ms Incognita.
Topics covered by the Executive Chic blog will include, among others: (1) what to consider when dressing for various situations, from the boardroom to casual offsite meetings; (2) current fashion trends and how to adapt them for the office; (3) good resources for executive clothing at a range of price points; and, (4) interviews with designers of professional business attire.
“The power of the Executive Chic blog is professional women sharing inside tips and questions on business attire with other female executives,” said Ms Incognita. “I know that some of my best role models during the course of my career have been other women professionals, and I’m sure that’s true for others. It’s time for a forum that makes it quick and easy for us all to access that knowledge.”
