On Wednesday, November 30th, 2011, Atlanta Business RadioX™ co-hosts Pete Canalichio and Bill Jachthuber were joined by Gaurav Marya, the President of Franchise India to discuss his perspective on the state of franchising and licensing in India.

Marya, known as the “Father of Franchising” in India, spoke about how franchising started in there in the early 1990s and how far it has grown. He compared the launch of licensing to franchising and conveyed how India is poised for tremendous growth. According to Gaurav, the biggest issue facing licensing in India is lack of knowledge and an eco-system. For this reason, Gaurav and Franchise India have chosen to host to the Brand Licensing India conference for the past several years. This year’s conference endorsed by the International Licensing and Merchandisers Association (LIMA) will be held at the Ashok hotel in New Delhi, India from December 2 – 3, 2011. Attendance is expected to reach 30,000.
