For the person in a job search, there is no down time even if other job seekers think there might be.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 30, 2011
On Tuesday November 18th, 2011, Atlanta Business RadioX™ Host Dr. Tim Morrison was joined in-studio by Wayne Breitbarth (retail business owner and author of THE POWER FORMULA FOR LINKEDIN SUCCESS), Richard Kirby (founder of Executive Impact and author of FAST TRACK YOUR JOB SEARCH AND CAREER) and Emile Paradis (networking trainer and consultant with the Referral Institute/Atlanta) to talk about why job seekers should not give up during the holidays.
The Write Here, Write Now radio show on Business RadioX™ focuses on interviewing business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals about their work and the book they have written, are in the process of writing or intend to write someday. But on this special edition, the show focuses it’s attention on active job seekers. The “holiday season” kicks off with Thanksgiving and continues on through New Year’s and many job seekers believe it is pointless to be in an active job search during this time. All attention is on holiday preparation and year end matters. But in this episode of the show, our panel shares their insights as to why this might just be the best time of the year to intensify a job search.
The panel concurred: For the person in a job search, there is no down time even if other job seekers think there might be. They agree that there could be some industries and businesses that slow down internally during December but for many businesses the decision makers are not traveling, budgets are set for the new calendar year and companies know if funds are available for new hires.
With a slower pace in many business settings, job seekers have a better chance of being able to speak with decision makers. Also of note, this time of year is filled with a variety of social, seasonal and year-end events that lend themselves to networking. People need to be attuned to NOT abusing what is intended to be a social gathering but there are acceptable ways to network at these events and not seem overbearing.
In summing up the interview, Morrison talked about how thrilled he was to have such experts in the studio to share their knowledge, “Wayne is sought after nationally to share his insights on effective use of LinkedIn. Richard is a highly regarded placement professional and sought after speaker and Emile is among the top Referral Institute leaders in the United States.”
