We have seen, since our recent lobby redesign, a significant increase of non-hotel guests, who come here for all sorts of reasons
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) October 07, 2011
There was a time when a hotel lobby was just a place to pass through — on the way to the room or out of the hotel. In recent years, however, Marriott Hotels & Resorts has implemented a reinvented lobby concept, where stylish, functional seating, state-of-the-art technology and innovative food and beverage concepts were added to appeal to the evolving needs of today's business traveler. If guests entered the Marriott BWI Airport Hotel lobby on any given day, they would see that this concept is working brilliantly.
According to Willie Wright, General Manager at this Baltimore, MD hotel, "We have seen, since our recent lobby redesign, a significant increase of non-hotel guests, who come here for all sorts of reasons, and we couldn't be happier that we provide a relaxed, comfortable, efficient and, most importantly, welcoming setting."
A recent informal survey at this BWI Airport hotel lobby found a salesman catching up on e-mails in between appointments in the Baltimore area; a home-based worker venturing out for some social interaction and a Starbuck's coffee; an executive interviewing an out-of-state candidate who just flew into the nearby airport; and a marketing team having a brainstorming session away from the distractions of the office.
"Our goal has been to design the lobby in a way that is most appealing to those who need to make use of it. One of the recent developments has been our '5, 10, 20 Menu' where we group items according to how long they will take to prepare (for example, Antipasti or Soup and a Baguette in five minutes; Thai Chicken Skewers or Crispy Buffalo Shrimp in 10 minutes; and Grilled Rib Eye or Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes in 20 minutes). Patrons can opt to have these items from the "5, 10, 20 Menu" anywhere in the lobby or in Chesapeake Restaurant," adds Mr. Wright.
