SAN FRANCISCO (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) May 6, 2008 --
Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAVA) today announced the winners of the
sixth annual Duke's Choice Awards. The Duke's Choice Awards program
recognizes the year's most influential Java(TM) technology-based
applications submitted by developers and companies around the world. The
winners are chosen by Vice President and Sun Fellow James Gosling, along
with a panel of Java technology experts at Sun. For full details on the
winning companies and their applications, please visit: http://www.java.com/en/dukeszone/dukeschoice.jsp.
“The Duke's Choice Awards highlight the
efforts of the Java developer community and the innovative applications
they create. Each year, the judging process becomes increasingly
difficult as unbelievably cool submissions come in from around the world –
each based on Java technology,” said Gosling. “The
2008 winners exemplify Java technology's universal success ranging from
enterprise and mobile applications to science research, medical and
education technologies, a pen that's powered by Java software and even
tiny mote devices, which are approximately the size of a dime.”
Gosling will present the Duke's Choice Awards on Tuesday, May 6 at 5:00
p.m. in the Java Playground area of the JavaOne Pavilion. The Duke's
Choice Award winners will also be showcasing their winning applications
and technologies in the JavaOne Pavilion during conference exhibit hours.
