"We are food providers," said Joe Lasher, founder of GameDinner.com, who has created the new Certified Backyard Bow Pro Program. "We are combating the stereotype that so many property owners have and it's working."
The mission is simple: to give hunters the credibility they deserve and to make it easier for game to be delivered to those who really need it through the Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry program.
The Certified Backyard Bow Pro Program will verify its members as crime-free citizens and licensed ethical hunters, who are provided with photo identification and other tools and credentials that offer transparency to property owners.
“This program seems to envelope all that is good in archery and archery hunting and I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t get involved,” says one industry professional.
By combining the crime-free backgrounds of team members with the food relief efforts of FHFH, Lasher’s Team has created a win-win-win scenario. Bow hunters are securing private hunting land by showing landowners they’ve taken steps to ensure their safety; landowners are receiving help with deer damage (and, subsequently are keeping trespassers off their property); and the community benefits by receiving lean, healthy, hunter harvested venison through food banks, churches and soup kitchens. Lasher also believes that the wildlife benefits as team members are working to restore a natural balance to the properties.
