The BYU at Entrada Classic is fast becoming one of the premier women’s college golf tournaments in the nation and we continue to draw schools from all areas of the country.

The BYU women’s collegiate golf event returns to Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club for its eighth year and will be held March 20-22, 2011. The event is sponsored by Henry Walker Homes, who recently launched a new subdivision called The Escapes at Entrada. Tyler Meyers, Division President of Henry Walker Homes states, “We are very excited to support the BYU at Entrada Classic; Entrada is truly a unique and special place and the golf course is one of the best in the southwest.”

Renamed the BYU at Entrada Classic in 2010, the event will host 15 college teams representing 10 states that include Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In all, 84 women collegiate golfers will be in competition. Accompanying the players will be their team coaches and parents. “The BYU at Entrada Classic is fast becoming one of the premier women’s college golf tournaments in the nation and we continue to draw schools from all areas of the country,” said Carrie Roberts, BYU Women’s Golf Coach.

“We are honored to host this prestigious women’s collegiate golf event again this year,” said Phillip Martin general manager of Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.” The golf course is in prime condition, and our members are very excited about hosting the players. The hospitality shown here at Entrada and in St. George will give the players and their coaches’ memories of a great event.” Entrada’s Johnny Miller Signature Golf Course, rated Utah’s best year-round golf course by Golf Digest, will be the site of the 54-hole championship. The college women will play the course at 6,154-yards, par 72.

The teams begin checking in on Saturday, March 19th where they will be assigned to their host families. Residents of 44 homes in Entrada will open their door for the collegiate competitors again this year.

“The residents here enjoy the spirit of the event, and,” according to Joel Welber, Entrada Event Chairman, "many have requested the same teams they hosted last year.”

The schedule begins with a private dinner at the various hosts’ homes Saturday night for the teams and their coaches. Practice rounds on Sunday will be followed by a dinner at Entrada for all competitors, coaches, traveling parents and Entrada host families. With Entrada residents serving as volunteer scorers and drivers, the competition begins on Monday with a 36-hole, stroke play round followed by a cook-out at Entrada for the players and coaches. The final 18-hole round on Tuesday will determine the BYU at Entrada Classic team and individual champions of 2011.
