It is so helpful for patients to have another source of information and support so they can keep living their normal lives.

C3Life.com, community website for people with ostomies, their caregivers, and loved ones, was a first-time exhibitor at the 2010 Joint Conference of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) and the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET). The conference was held in Phoenix, Arizona USA in June.

It was a historic event, as the two premier wound, ostomy and continence associations came together with a universal focus on patient care. The WOCN Society and WCET united to educate the world on the most up-to-date patient care treatments, evidence-based research, and techniques aimed at advancing the profession. And C3Life.com was happy to contribute to this effort.

Stoma Care Nurses from the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries visited the C3Life.com booth to learn about how the website is enabling people with ostomies to find educational information, get emotional support, and connect with others like themselves. “Life with an ostomy involves continuing change,” said Julie Morrisroe, a Specialist Stoma Care Nurse from the UK, who attended the event and who is also a member of the site’s “Ask the Clinician Panel.” “It is so helpful for patients to have another source of information and support so they can keep living their normal lives.”

The conference also featured exhibits by patient-focused organizations, support groups, and leading manufacturers of wound, ostomy, and continence products – including Hollister Incorporated, which supports C3Life.com.

“C3Life.com was very excited to have a presence at this conference,” said Lisa Peterson, manager of the C3Life website and community. “We were honored to have the opportunity to tell nurses from many countries about how our website can help their patients live their lives to the fullest.”
