CAAM, the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine, will be launching the first two modules in the certification and training program at the CAAM annual conference on November 4th and 5th, 2011 in Vancouver at the Hotel Renaissance Harbourside.
“Our goal is to ensure that there is a consistent and high level of training for all doctors practicing aesthetic medicine in Canada. Up until now, there has been no formal training or certification available. We want to make sure that anyone seeking aesthetic services or treatments in Canada will be able to know that the doctor they are seeing is well trained and certified in the services they are offering,” said Dr. Hebert, president of CAAM and medical director at Médecine Esthétique Dr Yves Hébert in Montreal.
This certification and training program will be open to licensed Canadian Physicians, regardless of their specialty, who are members of CAAM. The first two modules to be presented are: 1) Facial Anatomy and Neuromodulators and 2) Anesthesia of the face and Dermal Fillers. The program consists of:
1) EDUCATION / TRAINING
• Academic - six modules from CAAM’s recognized procedures
• Practical - Hands-on training sessions
(2) CERTIFICATION / DIPLOMA
• 6 Module Certificates
• Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine
The annual CAAM conference includes a program that will be of interest both for beginners and experts with a variety of topics and speakers in the field of aesthetic medicine. The speakers include: Dr. Stephen Mulholland (Toronto, ON), Dr. Heidi Waldorf (New York, NY), Dr. Gerald Boey (Vancouver, BC), Dr. Trina Stewart (Summerside, PEI), Dr. Stewart Adams (Calgary, AB), all acclaimed on both national and international levels. Dr. Steven Bellemare (Ottawa, ON) from the Canadian Medical Protective Association, will be giving a presentation on medico-legal issues as well.
