Countless attorneys get good results for clients every day of the year
San Francisco, CA (Vocus) December 24, 2009
With one of the largest non-punitive single plaintiff verdicts in the past 10 years in Santa Clara County Superior Court, Randall H. Scarlett of San Francisco was named by The Recorder (http://www.law.com) as a top Attorney of the Year for 2009.
Randall H. Scarlett was honored as a top California attorney of 2009, the only plaintiff’s personal injury attorney selected, for his work in obtaining a record setting verdict in a case involving traumatic brain injury. On September 21, 2009, after a hotly contested 5 week trial, Mr. Scarlett obtained a $49 million verdict on behalf of a 21 year old college student who suffered devastating brain injuries as a passenger whose vehicle was struck during a cross-centerline big-rig truck accident near Gilroy, California. This verdict is believed to be the largest personal injury verdict by a Santa Clara County jury in at least 10 years, [Santa Clara County Superior Court, Action No.: 1-08-CV-104548] and is one of the top verdicts achieved nation-wide by any attorney in 2009.
Lead counsel Randall H. Scarlett was quoted as saying that this was a situation where the jurors fully understood the long-term implications and costs associated with traumatic brain injury.
The Recorder chose to honor those attorneys with high-profile achievements in court or on a major deal. "Countless attorneys get good results for clients every day of the year," Recorder Editor-in-Chief Scott Graham said. "We felt these 16 obtained something tangible, and made headlines, in a way that truly stood out."
The Recorder included in this honor only California based lawyers who litigated cases in California courts or handled deals for California based clients. The Recorder will profile each honoree in their upcoming February 18, 2010 issue.

Scarlett actively serves as a Board Member on the California Brain Injury Association, and dedicates both his professional and personal life to improving the lives of those sustaining traumatic brain injury.
