Forget Newquay and Bournemouth: Brighton is Britain’s Best Loved Beach
Brighton, Sussex, England (PRWEB UK) 27 June 2014 -- A recent survey conducted by the Campetition.co.uk has seen Britons name Brighton as their favourite UK beach, narrowly beating Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall.
Martin Smith, owner of the Campetition.co.uk website, said, "Being based in Sussex, we're delighted for Brighton to get the recognition it deserves, especially with construction beginning on the i360 tower next week."
At 600ft tall, the tower on Brighton seafront will be the UK's tallest visitor attraction outside of London.
He continued, "Although we only have pebbles, at least there's no algae to scrape off like on Preston Beach in Devon this week!"
Sussex beaches were the surprise hit, being one of only two counties with multiple entries in the top ten.
In the same survey, both Newquay and Blackpool, which appeared in 4th spot, were named amongst the most disappointing places to visit. With the Met Office reporting that May was the sixth month in a row of above average temperatures for the UK and Conservative MP Helen Grant suggesting that staycations were a potential solution to the UK's ongoing passport crisis, the country's beaches are set to be busier than ever this summer.
The Epic Summer 2014 Campetition launched this week, offering Brits the chance to win a share of more than £9,000 worth of prizes and holidays in the UK's biggest camping competition. You can have your say on Britain's best features by entering at http://www.campetition.co.uk and completing this month's survey.
