World Recession Drives Operators to Make Old Wells Turn New Tricks

Operators Turn to Advanced New Workover Fluid Treatment for Increasing The Production Value of Existing Wells

Western Canada (PRWEB) June 8, 2009 -- Current economic conditions are making it difficult for operators to justify drilling new wells. Instead they rely on marginal production from existing depleted reserves. Production from these mature wells is often inhibited by compromised permeability - where microscopic pores in the rock (and even the larger fractures and cracks) have been clogged from previous operations.

If you have a well that's not producing to expectations, one enterprising drilling fluid company in Canada has a solution to clean it up.

HiTech Fluid Systems (www.HitechFluid.com) has developed a new workover and remediation technology "toolkit" that not only promises to revive production in these wells, but in some cases make them produce better than before. "Very few people are seeing the value in drilling new wells in this economic environment." says president of HiTech Fluid Systems, Jim Paradis "But anyone with an old dysfunctional well sees a huge value in maximizing the asset wells they already have."

The toolkit consists of 3 independent fluid technologies working together to increase hydrocarbon permeability of wells and allowing them to flow more freely through the rock. First, Aphron ICS™ micro-bubble technology is employed as a solids-free workover and remediation system to control bulk fluid invasion. ARC Micro-solution™ additives penetrate the micro-fracture and capillary pore network, treating the well and minimizing phase trapping caused by imbibition. ARC Absolution™ (an "aphron system breaker") is employed during the clean-up phase of the well to dissolve all residue from the aphron system seal.

The key player here is the new ARC Micro-Solution additive. This next generation micro-emulsion technology, available only from HiTech Fluid Systems through ARC Fluid Technologies, LLC, penetrates the formation on a sub-nano level and acts as a molecular multi-phase interfacial tension reducer. Anywhere Micro-solution is employed permeability to hydrocarbons is optimized.
