Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (PRWEB) September 11, 2007
Auriga, the signature spa and wellness center of Capella Hotels and Resorts, will make its North American debut in a spectacular Cabo San Lucas setting with the Fall 2008 opening of Capella Pedregal. Its opening will also mark the first Mexican spa for world-acclaimed spa designer Sylvia Sepielli, who is bringing to life a uniquely Bajan vision that will lead spa-goers into the fascinating tradition of Mexican folk healing, or curanderismo, in settings that range from luxurious treatment "pods" at the heart of the resort to a curandera's mountaintop cottage to a seaside palapa.
Sepielli, whose spas are renowned for their authentic representation of local healing traditions, continues to work closely with a curandera as she develops rituals and therapies for Auriga. From herbal baths to a traditional massaje, each treatment will be informed by curanderismo, with its emphasis on healing in the material, spiritual and mental realms. Among its tenets is the cultivation of certain herbs according to the lunar cycle, a tradition that will dovetail seamlessly with the four "phases of the moon" treatments that are signature to all Auriga spas. Traditional herbs will also be incorporated into healthy dining options that will be available throughout the resort. Food and beverage staff will be trained in the use of such herbs to create beautifully presented teas and tonics that will be prepared based on a guest's individual needs.
Luxurious Treatment Pods at the Heart of the Resort
Auriga will encompass several interior and exterior areas throughout Capella Pedregal. At the heart of the property will be a 10,000-square-foot interior space with 10 treatment suites, including two deluxe suites, fashioned into round, pod-like dwellings. Each suite will open to the outdoor spa pool area and will offer views of the vast sky and shimmering pool. The deluxe suites will be outfitted for couples with individual water therapy pools for watsu and other aquatic body therapies. Filled with salt water, the spa pool will provide a tranquil environment for reflection and lap swimming as well as inspirational ocean views.
Also within the main spa facility will be quiet and active lounges for women and men; women's and men's locker rooms; separate wet areas with sauna, steam, whirlpool and iced feature; a deluxe salon suite; and a reception and retail area. From the reception area, guests will be ushered into an intimate pre-treatment area. Upon removing their shoes, each guest will receive a soothing floral foot bath and mini foot massage that will set the tone for the spa experience that awaits them.
Mountaintop Healing at La Casita de la Curandera
Perched high above the resort on a mountaintop will be a healer's cottage with a design inspired by traditional building methods and incorporating endemic materials. Here, surrounded by an herb garden, spa guests will have the opportunity to consult an authentic curandera for treatments and rituals based on local folk healing traditions.
Yoga and Meditation on the Beach
At the southwest corner of Capella's beach will be a Seaside Palapa for yoga and meditation. Seaside massages will also be offered in this inspirational setting.
Mind-Body Facility for Fitness and Personal Training
Capella Pedregal's fitness center will be open 24 hours a day. It will include an intimate, personal training gym for guests who travel with their own trainer, which can be outfitted prior to the guest's arrival with all the tools and equipment the trainer requires. There will also be a cardio/weight room with a full complement of cardiovascular and resistance equipment, with personal TVs and sound for viewing and listening to music. A movement studio with sprung wooden floors will offer step, dance and other group classes and will feature the latest sound and lighting systems for a full, sound-surround experience. Private consultations will be available and will cover all aspects of mind/body well-being.
An Auriga Signature: Services Inspired by the Phases of the Moon
As at every Auriga, Capella Pedregal's will offer four signature services, one for each phase of the moon, that encourage guests to attune their wellness routines to the rhythms of nature. The new moon treatment will focus on stimulating and awakening the body; while the waxing phase is the time to "sow the seeds" and nourish; the full moon brings one to the height of his or her potential; and the waning moon signals a time to cleanse the body and spirit.
Developed by the Diaz Rivera family, one of Mexico's foremost developers, the long-awaited Capella Pedregal will be Cabo San Lucas' most luxurious new resort and residential community. Accessed via a private mountain tunnel linked to downtown Cabo, Capella Pedregal will encompass a Yacht Club, the intimate 66-room Capella Resort and Spa, 31 shared-ownership Capella Residences and 20 full-ownership Capella Casonas, all with dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez.
Capella Pedregal is located at Camino De La Plaza #145, Cabo San Lucas, BSC, Mexico.
