There is a growing need for counseling faculty and supervisors, yet there are very few opportunities for mental health professionals to meet the educational standards of this field within an online program
MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) October 28, 2008
"There is a growing need for counseling faculty and supervisors, yet there are very few opportunities for mental health professionals to meet the educational standards of this field within an online program," said Margo Weiss, PhD, assistant dean of Capella's School of Human Services. "We have developed a rigorous curriculum that includes residencies and field experience in addition to online course work. We believe that one advantage of our program is that we offer the only online master's specializations in counseling that are CACREP-accredited, providing our online PhD students with the opportunity to potentially fulfill their internship experience by working with our master's-level counseling students."
The new PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision leverages Capella's experience and faculty expertise in both mental health and higher education. Capella offers more than two dozen graduate specializations in counseling, psychology, and related fields, as well as more than a dozen specializations specifically focused on the field of higher education.
Capella is now accepting enrollment applications for its PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, General Counselor Education and Supervision specialization. For more information, please call 1-888-CAPELLA (227-3552), option 3, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Review of this specialization is pending in AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, MN, SC, WA, and WI.
