Quick Service Seafood Chain Taps New Executive to Spearhead Food Quality and Safety Initiatives

Peter Gibbons, Vice President of Product Development, today announced the hire of JoAnne Kemp, as its Director of Quality Assurance. Kemp most recently served as the principal of her own consulting practice where she provided food safety and quality services to the food industry.

In her new position, Kemp will be responsible for all of Captain D’s quality assurance and food safety activities, including the Global seafood inspection, product specifications, vendor quality compliance and product safety.

“JoAnne holds a tremendous amount of experience in the restaurant field, having held key positions within the Captain D’s brand,” Gibbons said. “JoAnne brings experience that spans both the food service and food manufacturing industries domestically and internationally. I am delighted to have JoAnne as a member of the Captain D’s executive team.”

Kemp most recently served as the principal of her own consulting practice where she provided food safety and quality services to her clients. Prior to owning her own consulting firm, Kemp served as Manager of Quality Assurance at Shoney's Inc. where she developed and implemented quality and food safety initiatives that positively impacted restaurant operations and guest experience. Kemp graduated from the University of Tennessee where she received a BS in Food Science, Nutrition and Food Systems Administration.

“I look forward to working closely with Captain D’s executive team and franchisees on initiatives that will enhance our food quality, safety protocol and provide an exceptional experience for our customers at every location,” Kemp said.

Kemp’s appointment is the latest in a string of new hires by CEO Phil Greifeld, including Janet Duckham, Vice President of Procurement, Michael Lippert, Executive Vice President of Operations and Monte Jump, Executive Vice President of Marketing. Each of these executives will serve key roles in strengthening the leadership of the brand.
