Paparazzo Dies While Chasing Justin Bieber’s Ferrari; Los Angeles Car Accident Attorney Jeff Nadrich Responds

Los Angeles car accident attorney Jeff Nadrich responds to the recent tragedy involving a paparazzo in pursuit of Justin Bieber.

A Los Angeles photographer has died after reportedly chasing down Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari on the 405 freeway, according to CNN. Reports indicate that Bieber was not actually inside the vehicle, but the 29-year-old photographer had been following Bieber for some time and believed the young singer to be smoking marijuana.

Los Angeles car accident attorney Jeff Nadrich points out that I-405 in Los Angeles is one of the nation’s busiest highways, and incidents like this serve to remind us of the dangers in which paparazzi place themselves and others.

This is not the first dangerous pursuit involving Justin Bieber in recent months. Bieber was involved in a high speed pursuit with a different photographer back in July, and after that incident, Los Angeles city councilman Dennis Zine warned that the event was “a tragedy waiting to happen,” as reported by CNN. Zine’s words have proven all too true.

In this recent tragedy, the photographer reportedly spotted Bieber’s Ferrari stopped on Sepulveda Boulevard. The photographer then parked his own vehicle across the street, crossed through lanes of traffic to get closer to Bieber's car, and took several photos, according to Los Angeles police and reported by CNN. KTLA further reports that the photographer was twice told by police to return to his vehicle. He then began to cross the street, where he was struck by an SUV and killed.

Incidents between celebrities and photographers have a history of tragedy. The most prominent example is that of Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in Paris while being chased by an aggressive paparazzo. That incident contributed to legal reforms in France, severely limiting the ability to photographers to pursue celebrities. No such laws exist in the United States.

Los Angeles personal injury lawyer Jeff Nadrich has issued a response to the situation, warning that motorists should always be cautious when driving in Los Angeles. "The i-405 is the city's most congested highway, and in fact, it ranks among the top 5 busiest highways in the nation. Motorists should always be cautious, obey the traffic laws and keep a lookout for pedestrians at all times. It only takes a moment to change a life forever."

Justin Bieber has yet to issue an official statement on the situation.
