Hit and Run Accident Kills McKinney Couple

A study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSA) from 1997 to 2007 shows a steady increase in the number of related fatalities for motorcycle accidents each and every year. Unfortunately, a beloved McKinney, Texas couple recently became a part of this horrible statistic.

Richardson Police Department is searching for the driver of the white pickup truck said to be a late model, four-door, Mitsubishi that is suspected in causing this fatal motorcycle accident.

Dallas car wreck lawyer Nick Feizy notes that according to local news, Ernie and Elisa Santos were involved in a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday September 18, 2010 at around 2:15 AM. While riding on a motorcycle they were involved in a hit and run accident on highway 75 northbound close to the George Bush exit. Witnesses say that a white pickup truck suddenly stopped in the left center lane of Highway 75 northbound near the George Bush exit. The driver of a Lexus slammed on her breaks to avoid hitting the pickup causing Ernie and Elisa to hit the Lexus and fly off the motorcycle. Apparently, the couple was not wearing helmets. According to reports, Elisa died at the scene of the accident and Ernie died at the hospital a bit later.

Richardson Police Department is searching for the driver of the white pickup truck said to be a late model, four-door, Mitsubishi that is suspected in causing this fatal motorcycle accident. Anyone with information should contact the police department.

The NHTSA shows that in 1997 there were 2,116 motorcycle collision fatalities compared to 5,154 in 2007. In 2007, out of the 5,154 motorcycle deaths, 375 were in the State of Texas. As the study shows, there has been a clear increase in motorcycle wrecks in the last decade or more.
