Cardio Partner Resources, an authorized national American Heart Association training center, is bringing heart awareness to a whole new level. Cardio Partner Resources is leveraging social media to educate many more people using the great reach of social media. They are using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to drive the message of heart awareness.

Cardio Partner Resources' mission is to increase the survival rate of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and to train employees how to respond to medical and injury-related emergencies. Cardio Partner Resources' motto, "Keep Learning and Keep Living," is demonstrated in on-site classroom and throughout Cardio Partner Resources social media platforms, where Cardio Partner Resources seek to educate as many people as possible about the importance of having an AED.

"The power of social media allows us to educate using an informal platform," said Brian Leonard, President and CEO of Cardio Partner Resources. "Not only can we engage communities across the country to participate in on-line discussions sharing their experiences with AED use and training, but we can also post current articles, health regulations, and research, and increase awareness about the importance of the AED life saving-device."

Thirteen hundred lives are lost daily due to SCA, making it the leading cause of death in the United States. SCA causes the heart to unexpectedly quit beating (referred to as ventricular fibrillation). SCA can occur independently from a heart attack and without warning; it is unpredictable and can happen to anyone, anywhere. When not treated immediately, SCA can lead to death. AEDs are the only effective treatment — AEDs analyze the victim's heart rhythm, and, when needed, deliver an electric shock to restore it. Portable AED models now allow more people, with minimal training, to respond to this medical emergency. This is extremely important because, for each minute that passes without defibrillation, the chances that an individual will survive decrease by seven to ten percent.

By posting such information on social media sites — Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn — Cardio Partner Resources maximizes the message and builds communal relations with others seeking information or of similar interests. Cardio Partner Resources also maintains a blog, consisting of informative articles and news stories. Through these venues, their clients become part of a larger network, offering feedback through comments and participating in written conversations relating to their posts.

Using social media allows the public to get involved and entices collaboration. When Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn users visit any Cardio Partner Resources social media site, they can "like" or "follow" posts, allowing them to receive current updates. Most importantly, just by sharing this information with their friends, family, and colleagues, they can become an advocate for increasing CPR certification and equipping portable AED units in schools, businesses, and sporting events of every level. By distributing this information through social media, users are helping Cardio Partner Resources with their mission of making corporate and community leaders aware of life-saving information.
