The title of the chapter submitted is Creating Employment Opportunities in the 21st Century. This chapter told stories about clients who thought outside the box to make their own opportunities for gainful employmen t in today’s workplace. The job market has changed, for instance, an executive assistant in an office is a virtual assistant working from home in today’s workplace. A graphic designer is also a web designer. The purpose of these stories is to help individuals transition their skills for gainful employment working for someone in an office to working for someone in one’s home or starting their own business from home.

Remember, jobs that existed 10 years ago don’t exist today, jobs that exist today didn’t exist 10 years ago, and there will be jobs in the future that haven’t been invented yet. An example of this is a graphic designer is also a web designer today. Any business today has to have a presence on the Internet with a website or storefront so clients can purchase your products even while you sleep. This is what allows a business to be open 24/7 and makes us a global economy.

When the United States went through its economic crisis, it also affected the European markets. Currently with the economic crisis in Greece, is affecting the Euro which is also affecting the economic recovery in the United States. This is a time for someone looking for gainful employment to look at their skills and figure out a way to translate them from one profession into another. One also has to be creative when interviewing for a job today.

Write out a job description for oneself, then research for a company you want to work with to find out where they have a problem, approach them to create a position where someone can help them with that problem. It has been said even though a company is not advertising a job opening; they always have a problem they need help with. When one is creative in the job market one can figure out a way to create an income for themselves.
When one can’t find a company to pay their going salary expectations, then contract with several companies to get the salary one wants.

Today, companies are hiring employees to work for them from home. They will supply the computer with the software installed for you to use and a phone, all one has to do is set up phone and Internet service through a company.
