Dyke Publishing Company has broken new ground in the elder care book business by providing online access to elder care information and product databases built especially for families with aging parents. There is so much necessary elder care information available that it would take thousands of pages in any elder care book to include it. To solve the problem, the publisher built the ResearchPro Information database, put it online and made it accessible to all book owners. The elder care information is organized alphabetically by topic and each topic includes several articles written by doctors, nurses, therapists, attorneys, and other experts in the elder care field whose specialty is caregiving to families needing help with aging parents and assisted living.
The number of clever and useful elder care products and online stores from which to purchase them is equally large. Dyke Publishing built the ResearchPro Product database and structured it like a shopping mall with a number of shops that sell the desired elder care products. The products are organized alphabetically by product and product category. Clicking on a product or product category takes the user to a number of stores in which the user can compare price and quality and make a purchase for home delivery.
Dyke Publishing reviewed hundreds of articles selected from thousands listed in Google searches for each of the alphabetized category listings before including them in the ResearchPro Information database. Additionally, many, many virtual stores were visited and reviewed before including them in the ResearchPro Product database.
According to Tom Dyke, the author of Mama Moves In, “Time demand and the need for information are two of the greatest challenges of elder care.” The publisher addressed both challenges with the databases by formulating the search criteria, searching and reviewing the thousands of listed results and selecting appropriate results for inclusion in the databases. Every article and every product is available any time, day or night, with a mouse click.
For those who demand more, Dyke Publishing includes the results of a real-time Google search for every information and product category every time a selection is made from either of the databases. The results of the new, real-time Google search are listed below the results provided by the ResearchPro Information and Product databases.
Simple instructions for using the databases for those who need them are conspicuously available when the databases are accessed. Tools for making lists of sites for information and products are also available.
For security purposes, each book buyer is issued a PIN which need be entered only once from an accessing computer or other Internet device. Each buyer is allowed database access from up to three Internet devices. PIN entry from each device is required, but only once from each device used.
