“When we first built our site, we assumed most people would be accessing us through their desktops or laptops,” a company representative said. “But, what we've been seeing is a massive shift of people who want to search our vehicle history records through mobile devices. So, we had to change the way our site works in order to be compatible with them.”
The company offers people information about used cars they may be considering buying so they can understand if they are being offered a good deal or suckered into buying a lemon.
“It makes sense that in our business, people would want to get the records from a mobile device,” the representative said. “They want to be able to look up information about the car while they are in front of it, talking to the seller. They don't want to have to go home, look up the information, and then come back to the seller. This will save them time.”
The company realized that they needed to reconfigure their site to be mobile compatible by listening to feedback from their customers.
“Our customer service representatives were getting a lot of calls from people asking them why they were having trouble accessing our search service through their mobile devices,” the representative said. “They relayed this information onto management, which then directed the IT department to fix the problem.”
